Ex Governor Convicted Of Fraud

Joshua Dariye, the former governor of Plateau state has been found guilty of fraud by the FCT High Court. This is coming few weeks after another ex governor, Jolly Nyame was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in prison for the same crime.

Mr Dariye was charged for allegedly diverting N1. 161.9 billion while he served as governor Plateau state. He was brought to court in 2007 by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on a 23 count charge bothering on fraud, diversion of public funds, etc,  15 which he was found guilty.

The judge, Adebukola Banjoko, who also jailed ex governor Jolly Nyame found him guilty of diverting funds to the Peoples Democratic Party in the state among other groups.

Mr Dariye is currently a senator on the platform of Nigeria’s ruling party, APC, to which he decamped in 2016. He was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
